Summer Institute on Aging Presentations
Center staff also presented educational and training sessions at the Summer Institute on Aging. This two-day workshop was held at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) on July 22-23, 2004. It was hosted by the UAA Center for Human Development, Alaska Geriatric Education Center, and jointly sponsored by the Center, the Alaska Commission on Aging, and the University of Washington Northwest Geriatric Education Center. Topics included:

  • Herbal / Alternative Treatments
  • Multicultural Perspectives
  • Seven Habits of Healthy Living
  • Characteristics of Older Adult Learners-Implications for Health Educators
  • Changing Behaviors
  • Elder Mistreatment and Domestic Violence
  • Challenges for the Aging Family-Caring at a Distance

Video of Key Findings
A video of the key findings from the Conferences of Elders will also be produced. Using this audiovisual medium, the voices of Alaska Native Elders themselves will be heard presenting the important information gleaned from the conferences.
